9 entries took part in the 63CC Nomad Navigational Rally was the first round of the club’s Road Rally championship, the event started and finished at the Alves hall and took in some of the best roads in the Moray and Nairnshire area. From Alves the event went to Forres and then headed to Darnaway. By control 5 halfway through the event the Huntly crew of Michael Law and Diane Duffton had a 10 penalty lead of the visiting Ross-shire crew of Neil Campbell and Charlie Munro and another Huntly crew of Colin Christie and David Law who were tied in 2nd Place with 20 penalties.

The following 3 sections took in the ford at Fortnightly which is possibly the only “wet” ford left on a public road in the area and then from there onto the challenging Drynachan and Lochindorb roads which are firm favourites with the drivers. Unfortunately these sections had to be scrubbed from the results due to a timing error. The rally then restarted on the B9007 heading for Ferness with the crews taking in a short loop around Dulsie and then heading to Relugas and back towards Forres and then on to Rafford before heading to Califer to the Finish. At the end the Neil Campbell and Charlie Munro were victorious with 25 penalties from Michael Law and Diane Duffton who finished with 27 penalties. Roy Anderson and Mark Milton were the victors in the novice class from Eileen Wood and Joanne Thereon.

March Hare 2012 Final Results

Unfortunately, the Thistle Rally has had to be cancelled due to a lack of organising time. This means the first club road rally of the year will be the Nomad Rally on the 24th of March. Hopefully the Thistle Rally can be organised later in the year.

Unfortunately, there was a mistake in the original regulations for the Seafield Rally as both the Elgin (Map 28) and Forres (Map 27) will be required. The regulations have been updated accordingly.

It has also come to our attention that the Elgin map has recently been updated, so recently that it may not be available in many shops yet. Therefore, the navigation for the rally will work on either edition B2 or B3 of the Elgin map.
