Bad Weather

Unfortunately the recent bad weather has forced the cancellation of some recent events, including the Bob Miller Memorial Rally and the December Autotest. The first event of 2011, the January Autotest, also succumbed to the weather as just as the worst of it had passed a fresh dumping of snow left Elgin Academy covered in ice.

Thistle Rally

Since the Bob Miller Memorial Rally was cancelled the event will now be re-run as the Thistle Rally on the 22nd January 2011. The event will start from Huntly Auto Services Unit 8 Steven Road Industrial Estate, Huntly. The event will be 65 miles long using maps 29 and 37, Novice navigation will be available. Contact David Law if you wish to enter or marshal. Regulations are available from the events page.

Annual General Meeting

The clubs Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday the 27th of January (sorry about the typo last newsletter!) starting at 8pm in the Laichmoray Hotel. This is your chance to have your say on how the club is run, and maybe even volunteer your services, so feel free to come along.

As always, the club have been asked to marshal a stage at the Snowman Rally on the 19th of February. The club will be covering stage 2 of the event, somewhere up north. If you want to come along, or want to find out more details then contact Colin Christie. Colin will also be looking for marshals for the Border Counties Rally on the 19th of March, but this will be lot further south, being based in Jedburgh. Again, contact Colin for more details.

Club Autotest

David Law will be busy at the start of the year, as he will be organising the club autotest on the 20th of February. The event will take place at the usual Dallachy, starting at 11am. Contact David Law if you want to enter or can help out with marshalling. Regulations are available from the events page.

Speyside Stages

Congratulations and thank you to everyone who helped organise last years Speyside Stages. The event won the Chairman's Cup, presented to the best rally in the Scottish Rally Championship, which is a tribute to all the hard work that everyone puts into the event. Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean we can rest on our laurels, as organising for the 2011 event will soon be under way with a meeting which will take place on the 24th of February, starting at 8pm in the Cottar Hoose. Everybody is welcome, so please feel free to come along if you think you can help out.

Pat Smith Presentation—World Cup Rally 1970

Once again Pat Smith has very kindly offered to do her presentation on her adventures during the World Cup Rally 1970. She once did this talk for the club before and it proved to be an eye opener for all that attended, so hopefully we can get a bigger crowd this time. The talk will take place on the 6th of March, starting at 2pm in the Elgin City Social Club.

Road Rally Navigation Class

There will be a navigation class taking place at Cairnie Hall near Huntly on the 13th of March. The class will go right back to basics so newcomers please come along. There will be a short training rally (Map 28) to follow. If anyone would be willing to come along and assist by marshalling or driving this would be very much appreciated. Please contact David Law if you are attending
